Cylinder problems and how to detect cylinder head defects

The cylinder head is a rather complex assembly in a modern car, characterized by its complexity. It is a kind of cover for the engine cylinders, a foundation on which various gas distribution mechanisms are installed, and to them, there are also spark plugs, exhaust manifolds, antifreeze and lubricant channels for the engine.
What happens in the event of a cylinder head failure? For many, the defect is insignificant, but has far-reaching consequences, affecting engine performance and causing problems with cars. In certain cases, there may be damage to the engine cooling - and that is overheating and engine breakdowns, and damage to the engine oil exchange systems, that is, the lubricating mechanisms.
How can you recognize the symptoms?
1) Engine oil ends up in the engine cooling system; antifreeze ends up in the oil circuit
It only takes a couple of seconds to check this fact. In the under the hood you need to open the cap of the expansion tank with antifreeze (note, only when the engine is cold). Dark foam on the walls with oily brown streaks indicates damage to the cylinder head.
2) However, a burned cylinder-head gasket does not always cause oil and antifreeze to mix. Fluids can ooze out of the engine itself. It also happens that the high temps will evaporate the coolant to where the cylinder-head is damaged, then you'll see white smoke coming out of the exhaust pipe, accompanied by exhaust fumes.
3) The most dangerous thing that can happen to an engine from a defective cylinder-head gasket is antifreeze that gets into the combustion chamber. There can even be a hydrostatic shock in the cylinder. Thus, the piston, being in a dynamic movement, collides with a layer of fluid, but it cannot be "compressed" - a hydrostroke is inevitable here.
Such a coolant leak can even close the circulation channels of the cooling system - overheating of the engine is obvious here.To better understand what happens to a car and become a guru of it, you need to study all cars brands.
4) Another bell - exhaust gases, which break through because of the loose gasket of the cylinder head into the system of cooling channels, there are visible bubbles in the expansion tank, and the temperature of the power unit constantly increases and goes into the red (dangerous) zone.
5) The last thing that will prompt a malfunction is the exhaust gas in the space under the hood, traces of fuel.
Causes of cylinder-head breakdowns include: improper installation of the cylinder-head seal, thermal stress, thermostat defects, and others. It seems to be an "eternal" part of the car, but you should know the points that signal a breakdown of this part.
